It’s Not Against Us
Exodus 16:8 – “…Who are we? Your grumbling is not against us but against the Lord.”
In the midst of God’s great provision for His people in the wilderness, they continued to complain. He gave them manna from heaven. And still they grumbled. He gave them quail. And still they grumbled. Bitter water became drinkable, and still they grumbled.
Moses decided to make it very clear to them who they were grumbling against–it wasn’t against Moses. It wasn’t against Aaron. It wasn’t against their leadership. It was against the Lord.
I think the application is clear for us:
Be careful about complaining to your church leadership, because in fact what you may be doing is complaining against the Lord Himself.
Be careful about complaining to your church leadership, because in fact what you may be doing is complaining against the Lord Himself.
You’re not doing yourself any favors.
You’re grumbling against the Lord.
And that’s not a good place to find yourself.
