Weaning child
I’m teaching the story of Hannah tomorrow in Sunday school, and in order to give people the idea as to how long this story took in actual history there are a couple clues. One is the mention of “year after year,” and there is also the statement that she waited until the child was weaned before she brought him to Shiloh (normally a 3 year process at that time). I was talking about this with Dana at lunch, and she shared a family story:
Her grandfather was the last of 6 children, and his mother did not want to have any more children. So, she breastfed him for a long time. It eventually got to the point that he would walk up and say, “Ma, give me a tit!”
I don’t think I’ll share this one in Sunday school.
