Colors

What an amazing thing – last Friday I took the day off and, unbelievably, found myself in the mountains – Twin Lakes. You know, it just happened! I am sure that surprises everyone (especially since Mom already told you).

The colors were just beautiful with the gold of the aspens starting to turn and a few (very few) hints of orange/red. First snow of the season above 12,000 feet.

Thought you might enjoy these photos. Enjoy!

I can’t see the above view (Twin Lakes looking south) without remembering the church campout we had here about 50 yrs ago. The yellow streak extending left and right out of the patch of aspen stretches several miles before before cresting the ridge and ending at some fishing water. Early that Sunday morning, my brother left to fish in the stream above the lake and was to be back early afternoon for our church picnic and church service. By 9:00 pm, he was still not back and my mother was REALLY worried. Seems he had started up that trail (the streak) and kept going and kept fishing. Well, you know, he couldn’t give up until he had his limit! He returned to the camp about 10:30 pm with pockets full of fish (had caught his limit X 3). We all were relieved. The fish were great!
