Easter And The Week After

Easter And The Week After

Easter at Journey Church was one of the best weekends that I’ve been apart of since our time at Journey. The Spirit moved mightily among us. Over twenty souls were saved. Both services were packed. Pastor Jimmy preached a straight-up Gospel message and the Lord used him in a powerful way. It was equally exciting to hear about our sister churches and like-minded churches in the Raleigh-Durham area that had blowout services as well. The Lord was honored. After church, the four Via families of Raleigh got together for a little cookout. Having my three brothers and their families so close is a blessing that I too often take for granted.

It was also on Easter Sunday that Pastor Jimmy announced the total amount of money the Journey family raised in one weekend for Arise Africa International, the Ugandan-based ministry that Journey and Rick Via Ministries partners with to plant churches and care for widows and orphans in that great country. The money we raised will go straight to finish the next phase of the orphanage and school at the Bukaleba property. This is also the same orphanage from which we will be adopting our sweet little girl.

And the total is …

$135,000 – almost three times the amount of our goal! Thank You, Lord.

On Tuesday, Tasha and I headed to Charlotte for the season finale of CharlotteONE, an amazing worship gathering of young professionals and college students all over Charlotte. Our awesome friends, the Hambricks, took our kids for the day so that we could go alone. We had an amazing band with us at C1 consisting of Scott Spruill, Travis Motley, Weston Keith, Patrick Downing and Shelly Moore. It’s been a true blessing to be able to serve with this ministry over the past four years off-and-on. What they are doing in the city of Charlotte is beginning to spread to other cities. The vision is growing. Phoenix, Arizona just started one. And others are soon to come. It’s a really exciting movement of God.
