Thirty-Two

Thirty-Two

The love of my life, Tasha Joy, turns 32 today.  As Rainy and I were putting the number candles on her cupcakes today, the two got reversed to read, “23” –the age she was when we were married.  The age she still looks to me.  Not a day goes by when I don’t thank the Lord for allowing us to spend our lives together.  For allowing us the very unique privilege of serving together and ministering to people from the same platform.  A blessing I don’t take lightly.

This is a woman who embodies the Proverbs 31 description.  She strives daily to look more like Jesus.  She displays the kind of tender love toward her children that any husband dreams about.  And the selfless love expressed toward her husband of almost nine years is a love that is few and far between.  There are not enough words in the English vocabulary to express what I feel toward this lady.

I would take a bullet for her.

I would step in front of a speeding train for her.

And yet, I get the priceless honor of living life with her and raising three children to love Jesus and make a difference for His Kingdom.

O sure, we’ve had our seasons of rough spots, because two flawed people entering into a marriage covenant simply equals a flawed covenant.  But by the grace of God, we’ll continue through the highs and lows, growing together, and learning what it means to love like Christ loves His bride.

So, Tasha, thanks for marrying me.  I would marry you all over again in a heartbeat. And when we’re 80, by God’s grace, we’ll be the old couple in the supermarket shuffling down the aisles together, hunched over, hand-in-hand, and still as much in love as the day we wed.

I love you with every ounce of my being.  jv
