Sharing Jesus’ Love in Guatemala

Sharing Jesus’ Love in Guatemala

Our team from Seven Marks Church recently returned from Antigua, Guatemala where we served for one week with partners, Chad and Jami Bader and Transformando Vidas. Though political unrest caused us to postpone the original trip set for October 2023, the political atmosphere finally calmed down allowing us to make the trip in January instead. The churches and villages were eager to receive us and excited to continue our over 10-year partnership.

Throughout the week our team served in five distinct locations, four of which were hours deep into the mountains. Each day we would divide into three smaller subsets to be as effective as possible. One group made multiple house visits, bringing a simple meal of rice and beans, followed up by an opportunity to share the gospel with the family members who happened to be present. Meanwhile, a second group served the ladies of the community by hosting a women’s conference where the Word of God was taught and women were encouraged and empowered by gospel truth. A third group tackled several small construction projects, rebuilding homes with new tin roofs and fresh timber for structural integrity. Every day was both exhausting and immensely rewarding.

Here’s a brief summary of the week:

  • Over 40 at-length gospel conversations
  • About 5 people prayed to receive Christ
  • 500 gospels of John distributed
  • Over 50 meals distributed
  • Over 100 women were specifically ministered to and given small gifts to help their families
  • About 4 homes were rebuilt and cleaned up
  • 10 new believers were baptized in one village
  • About 30 kids attended a one-day kids camp
  • Our team of 9 were greatly encouraged and challenged by the love and warmth of the Guatemalan people

Thank you for your prayers for our trip. Continue to pray for the Bader family and the Castellanos family as they serve the Guatemalan people day in and day out. And please pray about jumping on a future trip with Seven Marks. We know that God will use it in a tremendous way in your life.
